So I got a 2-1/2" Squamosa clam from Diver's Den this past Saturday, and placed him on a Clam Hammock, similar to this:

Here's a picture of him:

So my question is this......will he attach himself to the Hammock/cradle using his byssal gland, or not? It's only been 4 days, but he hasn't thus far. Just curious. Do Squamosas do this like Maximas and Croceas?

Is it okay to just lay it on the sand? My sand is very fine.....I’m just worried about bristle worms or something getting to it through the sand into its byssal opening.

Looks like its acclimating well to your system. Part of acclimation means posting new pics a few times a week:D

Lights just went out for the night.....I’ll post a pic tomorrow when I get home from work [emoji4]

My squammy walked around on the sand for a couple weeks and finally settled in next to a small island rock and attached next to it.

I think I'm going to remove the clam Hammock this weekend. He keeps walking off of it. I think he feels more secure in the sand.

Thanks! My phone doesn't take the best pics though. Anyway, he's gold and a faint purple with light blue around the outside edge [emoji4]
