Stand Calculator

Hey Everyone so I’m Jonathan and I am about to take on building my first stand! I heard there is a stand calculator or some sort to figure out the material and measurements needed for cuts and what not is this true ? I’m wanting to use 2x6 pieces of plywood any help is greatly appreciated

I've heard of a sand calculator for depth bug never heard if a stand calculator sorry

Edit: googled aquarium stand calculator and many threads from another forum came up

I haven't seen a tank building calculator, but unless its very large 2x6 should provide more than enough support

Welcome Jonathan. 2x6???? What size tank do you have. The conventional dimensional stand looks like this:

This is @RocketEngineer 's design and simply put, any tank up to four feet long, all 2x4's; tanks over four feet, the top frame is 2x6. Here's my stand frame for a five foot tank:

Each color represents a particular length which is determined by the tank dimensions and the height you'd like the stand. Note, a center brace is not needed with this design.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Exciting that you'll build your own stand. Like post #2 suggests, if you don't get answer you seek here in Forum > Meet and Greet area where friendly people hang out to welcome new people, then try searching and/or posting in other Forum area > DIY

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

Hey guys Thanks for all the support and friendly hellos. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post an update but if I’m wrong I’m sorry and hopefully someone can help me know where The best place to post updates Are. I completed the top and bottom frames for my tank but am concerned about a split that showed up in a piece of wood. I’ll post pics but should I worry about it? If so can I fix it or relocate it to a place that won’t bear much weight? I’m feeling like I should replace it all together but since I have to rely on Home Depot to cut my Wood (which must be bought at time of cutting ) I’m just checking for any other solutions. Thanks
