Stand wider than tank (8020 stand)

In the planning stages of a new build and some questions for those of you familiar with 8020. Tank will be a 40g breeder and I would like to use a 40g as a sump as well. Plan is to have the stand be 48 inches long x 24 or 30 inches wide. Will this be an issue? Stand will have a cover on top (1/4" plywood) and tank would likely sit close to the back edge. With the center bracing of that stand you MIGHT be ok. . . but I would use thinker ply personally. Alternatively, if it is a 40 gallon breeder, you could just move the center braces outwards so they directly support the corners of the tank. . . in that case the thin ply might be fine.

What I was thinking. When I upgraded my 75 to a 90 I added 2x4s in key spots to ensure the support would be there. I don't think an off-center placement would be OK without MoshJosh's suggestion.

Fortunately, this is easy to handle with T-Slot. Just add additional cross pieces and position them under the perimeter of the tank. You can fasten gussets to help the cross pieces support the weight.

Thanks for the inputs! How thick would you go for the plywood? Did a quick sketch up, would this be better than the link originally posted?

Supported by only four cross pieces, I would go 3/4" if it were mine. Of course, if it were mine, I would probably add enough cross pieces so that my largest open span on top was no more than 12", then go with 3/4" on top of that.
