I've had a star fish for a few days now that was doing perfect... until today. I came home and was told it has been in a ball most of the day and still was when I checked the tank. I checked water and the only thing noticeable was ammonia was just barely readable but salinity had raised to 1.029 cause something went wrong with ato. Is there anything I can do to help it?

They are definitely sensitive to salinity changes, especially abrubt ones. I don't think there is much you can do beside slowly bring your salinity back down and hope for the best.
What kind of star is it?

I got it back to 1.025 (Where I normally have it). It's a sand sifting star
