Starfish dropping a color bomb!

Hey, does anyone know what's going on with my starfish? It's a marble starfish and this red spot just started on it yesterday. It almost looks like it's bleeding. But it's super thick and very red.

I hate to say it, but I believe that's the beginning of the end. Stars are pretty sensitive creatures and generally don't tolerate much instability.
