I’m curious do you still have the little guy? I know this species is harder to keep long term in captivity mainly due to their diet of sponges, tunicates, bryzoans, and algae.

Yes and he’s doing awesome! Completely recovered and I did absolutely nothing lol. He grazes all the time, I keep my nutrients pretty high so there’s always a bit of algae on the glass and on a couple of the rocks that don’t have coralline yet. Time will tell

This star is an omnivore and needs both meat and algaes. Preferred salinity is 1.024 even 1.023 and Mag is 1 ??
Again being affected by changes in water quality, it is doing this due to stress.

Any tips for this biscuit starfish. Had three days & limb it turning white - and now I’m seeing brown mucus at its stomach. It likes to lay at my heater.

I was qt & thought about it moving it to the main tank instead until I saw the mucus and the white spreading.. think he’s a goner?

These stars can be sensitive to change in water quality and starvation. Assure phos, ph and nitrate levels are not elevated and salinity and temperature in safe range. Cooler temps are a must as is a well seasoned reef tank

Its vendor told me to do some cippro vaguely to help it. Think I should do that and add it to my display and skip the QT? I only had it three days by time it started to decline

Cipro best used for humans and is an alternative and rarely a solution. Helps with anemones but all else,,,, rarely
