Besides considering the equipment needed to start a reef tank lets consider the livestock. You need to have a plan. What corals do well together what are their lighting requirements ,flow etc. Many people as me have made the mistake of going to lfs and buying stuff because it looks cool. Lots of corals such as zenias can actually overcome your tank.You need to have a plan for the long term success. If you prefer sps or lps you need to do your research before stocking your tank.
