I have already filled my saltwater tank up with white distilled vinegar and ran it for two days and drained it, which cleaned it very well. Also treating a couple rusted supports and resealing the seams, with aquarium silicone. What should I use to do a final cleaning before filling it up with saltwater? Just adding this is my first saltwater fish tank.

Congrats on your first tank, that's awesome!!

What's your plan for the new silicon? Are you sure you need it? It's not a good idea to just smear more silicon over what's already there, new silicon does not stick to old silicon. To reseal a tank, you really need to separate all the glass panel, clean them thoroughly, then reassemble the tank. Just because a tank is used, doesn't mean that it needs to be resealed 🙂

After the vinegar, I'd just give it a good rinse and see what it looks like. The vinegar usually gets most of the old deposits off easily.

Good luck with your build!

I used a solvent to remove the rust build up. I want to make sure the tank doesn’t have any chemicals in it before I fill it up.

What is that a picture of exactly, some type of metal brace? There should be no metal in a saltwater tank 🙂
