Hi All,

Always Wanted a saltwater tank and I thought this might be a great platform to share progress of our first ever Tank... below is a list of the stuff we brought to get this show on the road :)

Aqua Nano 80 (125 Litre) Nano tank
Aqua one Moray 1200 LPH pump using 3/4" Vivid creations Random Flow Generator
Hydor Slim Skim Nano Protein Skimmer in the first chamber
TMC V2 200w Digital heater
Jabeco RW-4 wave maker
Current USA orbit Marine LED light with Timer ( to be replaced by Kesill AP700 next week)
Caribsea Life Rock Shapes 20Kg
Carib Sea Rushed coral substrate
Media basket containing -Floss- Activated Carbon -Rowaphos -Seachem Matrix in the 3rd Chamber

So we removed all of the sponges & ceramic that came with the tank, we have done a fish in cycle using Fritz Turbo Start.... tank seems cycled judging by the chemistry results, 5 days ago we had some brown algae starting to grow..

To Date we have two small Common Clowns, 3 Red legged Hermits, 3 rock hermits, 1 blue legged hermits, 2 turbo Snails and Two marble snails we haven't seen since they entered the substrate.

everything so far has been a learning curve but i'm super enjoying the tank, we added the first two soft coral Frags yesterday.. I think they look okay LOL

What's your opinion of our first endeavor into the Salty World :)

Looking good and welcome to R2R!

Have you considered introducing yourself in the Meet and Greet forum?

another addition to the hardware, just purchased a MiniMax media reactor to fit in the rear chamber, an inkbird temperature controller...

Also added a couple new corals today, Zoa which has some jasmine on it too & Goniopora, loving the new additions...

The LFS also had a long tentacle plate coral I loved the look off... hmmm.... maybe i’ll Sneak there this week lol

So I want a refugium for the rear of my tank, unfortunately nobody manufactures these for my specific tank which is a pain in the ****! So I’m going to make my own this week out of Perspex.... just drawn up a quick game plan...

So we’ve been back to the LFS today and came back with some more corals... they’ve taken to the tank really well...

Also we’ve fitted the AP700 and wow it’s an awesome light... really happy with it, I’ve also decided to swap out my RW-4 Wavemaker and opted for a IceCap 1K Gyre which I think i prefer the sound of, i’ll Keep the RW-4 for mixing saltwater up... the tunze auto top up arrived yesterday so that’s been set up now, just waiting for the bits to turn up so I can make my custom Refugium.... this tank has taken over me LOL (and my finances!) but I love it!

We also added a cheeky little emerald crab to the Crew!

So after a few trips to the LFS each time wanting to buy this, I finally brought it... added to the tank today and looks great - it’s my new favourite Coral.... reminds me of my misspent youth watching the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

So yesterday this arrived from over the pond (Icecap 1k Gyre wake maker) with a view to remove my jabeco RW-4 Wavemaker... after putting this in the tank I could tell instantly this was too much for my softies, even at 10% the lowest setting I had it blowing straight across the tank, I mean the flow is amazing and I imagine for an sps only would be great but not for softies or mixed tank, and to be fair I actually think it’s slightly bulky in the tank,

If they were to make one half the size of this, half the output and size...

they would probably get my money... again... lol

I am going to do one more test today and try half way up the tank blowing upwards towards the middle of the tank on 10% - if that fails it’s going back in the box and under the bed should I ever upgrade the tank!
