Quick update: Still battling phosphates in the .5 to .7 range.
Continuing to drip 10ml/1L lanthanum chloride + rodi.
On a happier note but I’m sure not helping with problem above...
Jim the Gem Tang, Dory, Larry the Lineatus, Bruce the blue dot jaw fish along with several to remain unnamed zebra darts and purple fire fish are leaving QT observation and heading to the display.
5” gem tang, 4” blue hippo, large lineatus wrasse, several zebra dart and fire fish.
existing fish include 5” Achilles, 5” powder blue, 4” Kole and 4” hybrid black + pair small clowns.
im sure you know where this is going. Achilles seemed fine at first but after about 30 minutes was relentlessly attacking the gem.
the Kole has been pretty aggressive towards the lineatus.
anyway I was able to net the gem since it was stuck up in the corner trying to stay off the Achilles radar.
I have it in one of the chambers in my sump but is just kind of hanging there nose down.
hoping I’m not gonna lose this guy after the long battle to get it + qt’ing.
I have another batch of tangs that just moved from qt in cp to observation. Was planning on trying to reintroduce the gem when that group is ready to go in.
JimTom the gem tang is fine. Just going to wait to reintroduce him when the batch of tangs I have in QT is ready.
Fired up the Stenner automated water change two days ago to hopefully help with the phosphate issue. So far done 75+ gallon water change. Using Aoex oscillate 00:00/60:00/60:00 one hour off/ one hour on. Was originally doin 30 off / 30 on.
I figured no point in dosing two separate tanks and I have not seen any evidence of spots on the PT. Starting to think it was stressed and just the light playing tricks on my eyes and extreme paranoia
So I Added YT, PT, Gem and Naso to tank this evening. Sailfin and Clown tang are in a basket.
They are smaller and I want to see how the Achilles and Kole behave at sun up tomorrow. I’m afraid it’s gonna be like the OK corral.
