Thought I would ask here for some stocking ideas for this tank. It's a 112l tank but not fillled all the way, so around the dimensions of a 20g shallow.

I don't want clowns (already have two pairs and more planned in another tank) and I would prefer something that is not shy and an active swimmer. I am fine with even just keeping a single fish + CUC in it. My current idea is a single orchid dottyback. I also like blennies and am thinking to try a blenny + dottyback combo.

It doesn't have much hiding space, and I don't want to add more rocks. The mangrove roots will provide more cover with time, as will the seagrass (not visible on the pictures) and macro algea, but not crazy much. I have a dottyback in another tank and know it loves its caves so that's why I am asking if someone has a better idea.

Are you okay with any saltwater fish suggestions or are you looking for suggestions for species that naturally occur in mangroves?

Anything saltwater. The tank runs at around 0.025-0.026 salinity.

I don't have a fish in my mangrove tank. But if I did add one it would likely be a damsel. I have a damsel in my macro algae tank, its always out and about, as long as it has one hiding spot it should be fine.

I saw your thread title and came here to suggest an archer fish. But then I saw that the tank size is too small for an archer.

That said, I really like the aesthetic of your tank. Something like a damsel or dottyback would be cool, as long as it doesn't jump (no lid). Might be a great tank for a neon dottyback.

The orchid dottyback likes to hide inside the rocks, which it want to be able to do there. Firefish goby maybe? or some dragonet?

Then yeah i think a dottyback is a good idea for a single fish. Not sure that it would tolerate any tankmates in that size tank.
If it were my tank i'd probably be looking at something like Cypho purpurescens but i see you already have an orchid

Thanks for all the suggestions!
