May just be me but I can not see a simple way to stop email notifications of posts on threads etc I have unchecked multiple different boxes but was still getting emails, I’ve unchecked at least 20 different boxes, i may have missed the correct option but I would suggest a far simpler way to do this, one box to stop all emails and one box to still receive emails from the site admin, then if you want emails for some notifications you have to physically opt in rather than opt out as there are so many options to find and uncheck.

I believe you can do this under your account settings. Go to preferences then email settings. Uncheck

  • Receive email when a new conversation message is received

that was one of the first to get unchecked, was still getting them, I find the terminology not very clear too, as that option could be meaning stopping private messages as a “conversation” sometimes mean private message.

You’ll need to uncheck it if you do not want the emails.

sorry the email part was unchecked not the other box, I’ve unchecked it now. thanks.

I have to say it could be clearer how to do this, there or over 20 different boxes to dodge before hitting on the right option.

There’s a lot of options on that screen; I have most everything unchecked.

yeah very confusing, it should be a lot simpler to do, it’s working now though but I probably have some options unchecked that don’t need to be, I’ll going to leave it alone now as it took me awhile to get to this point.

thanks, I guess that will work for all watched threads going forward too?
That only applies to the threads already on that list; threads you have previously replied to.
New threads are governed by the settings selected in post #3 (the "automatically watch content"): https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/stopping-email-notifications.745944/#post-7802742

And yes - it is a lot of different settings in different places - but we don't have the means to control how the forum software (Xenforo) is setup in this way.

Great, thanks for the help.
