Hi,

I've had a stream 3 for several years now and recently its stopped working. Whenever I turn it on the external control light flashes on the conteroller and the power light on the power supply also fades in and out. It isn't set to external control and trying to change the setting on the controller doesn't do anything.

I'm over in the UK but didn't get a response when I emailed the UK distributor so thought i'd try here, the pump will be well out of warranty at this stage but wanted to see if this is a known and potentially fixable issue.

Thanks in advance

Nick

It is definitely repairable.

1) Open the controller, inspect carefully for a burned area, inspect closely for water damage, generally burned components have that typical horrible burned electonics smell and is hard to miss. If you find water damage, make sure the pump cable has no holes or damaged, in the event of water damage, you only need to replace the controller and for the cost you might as well upgrade with 7020.160. If you find burned components, it is not so simple, usually this can only happen from a motor issue.

2) The motor has a bar of lights on it, if these do not flash on at all their is likely a motor issue, the motor is part 6150.100. Make sure the bearing and drive unit are not damaged, the bearing will wear down and be translucent/worn through or melted in appearance if it is damaged, the pump will refuse to run in this condition, this is usually caused by grit/debris or running dry even for just some seconds.

Thanks for getting back to me. There doesn't appear to be any damage to any of the components inside the controller, no lights at all on the pump and the bearing looks good as new. With that in mind looks like i'm ordering a new motor unit.
