We got this live rock with a mushroom colony on it from local fish store. Dipped it etc and doing well but tonight I’ve noticed an almost string like think on the rock now that one of the mushrooms has moved slightly. Is this something I need to be worried about or just a part of the rock etc?
Best photos I could get just now.

I'm not sure, but this kind of reveal is common with real ocean mushroom colonies and similar stuff.

If it's a hard "string" then it might be the tube of a snail or a feather duster? The latter is probably a good thing while the former might be a Vermitid snail, or something similar that can spread and irritate some corals?

The images are not very helpful, as you noted. Can you touch the thing an let us know if it is soft or not?
Nice shrooms! 😇

I can’t make out what that might be. If you can move the rock closer to the camera you’ll probably be able to get some more detailed pics.

Thanks. In the middle of toddler bed time here but will have a feel and see and try and get better pictures. Fingers crossed it’s nothing too awful 🙈 first coral!

Ok so I came back down to get pictures earlier and the mushrooms had moved back over it so could hardly see it however it was waving about in the flow a bit so definitely seemed maliable rather than hard. Now it seems to have vanished all together but will look in the morning again! Mystery!

Yeah, closer pics are needed for a solid ID here, but my first thoughts would be either some kind of worm (probably harmless), a micro brittle starfish leg (harmless), or some sort of debris (like a piece of food or algae or similar). Again, can't say for sure, but those would be my first thoughts.
