So I went to work at 3.30 and no one told me anyone was throwing a party so I left home and all my medicine by my QT. I came back and a group of children broke my glass lid and let it fall in the tank. All fish were fine but then they dumped my whole bottle of keneplex and left it in the tank So I'm doing a water change. Will althis negatively impact my fish in any other way?

Do a decent water change and run some carbon. Obviously remove the glass too

Ugh kids are the worst people ever.... Jk, I'd blame whoever was supposed to be watching them... I'd do a very large water change for sure

That really stinks. I think you’ve taken the right steps so far though. Do the water change and then run some carbon. I’m really curious how old the kids are and what they were thinking though.

Should be fine if you do a water change and run your skimmer on max. Short term the most dangerous part is the ammonia. However good news is our tanks naturally fix that. You will probably see a spike in nitrates in the end and the inside of the glass will look fantastic (kidding). Hopefully the water change and skimmer take out the dyes and other chemicals.

You trusted a kids party at your house to a babysitter?
I didnt throw the party. My parents did. Trust me if I knew that a party was going down. I would have locked my room or at the very least put equipment away.

Update. As expected ammonia levels spiked real high today. i also notice ick symptoms starting to appear again. you guys think that i should put some prime to help reduce ammonia for now. i literally ran out of salt and the nearest LFS is an hour away and their all closed and when i get the salt, do a large water change/ add more carbon to remove prime and redose copper (the water changes and carbon removed all the copper and i got 0 reading so no false positive on the ammonia test).
