Its been a long time coming, but time to update the current 120g chalice delight tank to a 312 gallon monster. The tank is going to be an acrylic tank measuring 5' x 5' x 20" tall. Basically a short cube. I am in the process of ordering parts and the tank builder comes tomorrow to check it all out!

Here is a google sketchup of what it will look like. (please excuse my horrible 3d drafting skills)

I will also have a 100 gallon sump. This system will be in a room next to my garage. So the tank will be viewable from 3 sides and top down. The sump and all equipment will be out in the garage.

Here is my parts list

Two 1.5" seaswirls
Dart/Snapper hybrid
Reef Octopus SRO-5000INT

Neptune Apex Controller w/ lab grade ph probe
Two Ecotech MP40WES

Korallin C-3002 calcium reactor
1 hp Eco Plus chiller

Not sure on lighting yet, but going led route.

Any suggestions of ideas would be greatly appreciated! My one concern is that i might have to change out the two mp40 to mp 60s

Beutiful dimensions for viewing, although it sounds like a nightmare for working in the tank. Even at 6'5", I can't reach the back corner of my 180. Hope you're a pro at working with tongs! Definitely following along.... 1smile1

I have long monkey arms lol. I image i will be getting the chest wet a bit with reaching across to get things. Part of the reason for being so shallow Plus the tank will be open top and will sit at 58"' tall with stand, so im hoping that will help with getting at things. Im 6' myself so i hope the reaches wont be too bad

LOL, I have monkey arms too. The problem comes once the corals grow in and you need to become a contortionist or gain about 3 extra joints in your arm to reach stuff. Should be an amazing build regardless. Just make sure you have a grabber on hand for the dropped stuff! I have a few frags that got bumped off a frag rack that have grown into colonies on the sandbed in the back of my tank. I have a tabling acro that's blocking me from getting them even with the tongs. :squigglemouth:

I hear ya there, my current 120 has some unreachable areas. I plan on moving the 5 large rocks that make up my 120 into 5 seperate islands in the new tank, so hopefully ill be able to reach most things. Of course in time it will all fill in to a big jungle of coral lol.

Following along. I am in the early stages of planning a tank where the sump & all gear will be in the garage too, so I look forward to seeing your progress!
