I have a 280gal up stairs and a 220 sump in my basement . Roughly 14ft of head height. Im currently running a vectra L1 at 100% 1" hard plumbed . Dual return at tank .

Is there a better option for a sub pump, with out having to run 2 L1 or drill my sump?

I take it you are not happy with the amount of flow you are getting.
First off you would probably get more flow by increasing the pvc to 1-1/2".

While Vectras are nice and quiet, I didn't think they handled head pressure very well.
I switched from Vectras to Red Dragons. Very happy with them.
They do make several pressure pumps you should look into.

Thank you for the input! . Weird that 1 1/2 would put more pressure output then 1"

The wider pipe diameter essentially allows for a buffer of water between the main flow and the wall of the PVC pipe. This effect greatly reduces the friction caused by water flowing directly against the walls of the pipe. Less friction, faster flow:)

So bassicly it "fills" the 1.5" pipe and gets its flow at the reducer closer to the tank instead of reducing and and restricting it at the pump the whole way up?

Has anyone on here changed there plumbing and saw a difference
