Can I use a 1/3 or so HP submersible pump from a place like harbor freight or Amazon? My saltwater will be stored in a 50 gallon brute container in my basement. Water will have to overcome about 20-25' elevation gain. My plan is to mount a garden hose reel in my laundry room and when I need to do a water change on my tank just stretch the garden hose and be done quickly. Looking for a cheap pump that won't kill anything in my tank.

That is similar to the way I do it, except I don't have to go so far. I mix in a Brute can on a furniture dolly, roll it into place and pump into the tank using a Cobalt MJ pump.
