Such thing as clear PVC glue???

I was just curious to find out if there is a way to glue PVC together without the glue showing. Im not a fan of the purple stuff and was wondering if there is anything else that is used.

There Def is clear glue and primer. They carry it at most places.

Yes clear primer and glue can be found at home depot or Lowes.

I haven't used purple primer on a tank in over six years and have set some up for LFS and friends. Just skip the primer and use only the glue. Swap both pieces your glueing inside and out and give a 1/4 turn while fitting them together and hold for 10-15 seconds until the male piece won't back out. I've never had a joint leak doing this.

I do like to use clear primer on all my PVC. May not be totally necessary but gives me a better piece of mind. I do not use any primer on flex PVC as the joints tend to fail if primer is used before gluing.

This is what I use. It is clear and a little bit thick. It doesn't drip as much as the regular stuff. I also do not use primer. Never have and I do not believe it is necessary for our systems since we are using such low PSI.

Im a plumber. Even though priming is not totally necessary with new CLEAN pvc , I would always recommend it. Helps make a complete bond between fittings. Any plumbing supply or home improvement store will have clear primer and clear glue. I've seen glued only fittings fail after a few years in no pressure hvac systems time and time again. Fittings I could just pull apart with my hand. Not worth the risk to not prime in my opinion.

You and your lfs and friends have gotten lucky then. :)
Not priming is risky, i work on pools and have had to fix many glue joints over the years due to not priming. Just takes a second to prime before gluing and well worth not having to worry about a possible wet floor or carpet. I know aquarium plumbing systems have a lot less pressure than pool systems but still why risk it?
