I’m leaning towards something like copper killing inverts..
I never acclimate them, why since they come in a bag with a paper towel?...
Very low mortality rate too..

Inverts do not live on water "nutrients..." snails live on algae and hermits live on algae and other carbon-rich leftover food. Super high N and P can kill inverts.

I would not dose carbon, but if you do, sugar is fine... it is cheap, pure and easy to add. People like to nit about which is better than the other, but they are were about the same when I dosed in my FOWLR.

Could it be a mantis snatching them in the night
Have you heard snapping or clicking noises coming from the tank

At this point I would suggest running a poly filter and some fresh carbon. Maybe something is in the water. Next time you try again I would use a drip acclimation just to see if maybe it was the acclimation method. What fish do you have in the tank?
