I have literally had two Quiet Ones go up in flames so no more for me.
Ocean Runner or Eheim is all I will use, both ate top quality products that will last a lifetime. I have an OR 2700 and OR 3500 that were both used when I bought them and I've been running them non stop for over 7 years now myself and they just keep going. Very efficient power wise, low heat gain, very quiet and no restart problems.
Paul, I'm not sure the Laguna 900 GPH version would be a good choice. According to their manual its shutoff head is only 6'4" so it does not handle head well and the GPH probably drops off sharply. In a normal sump/display installation you probably have close to 5 feet of head with tubing and fittings so its probably not pumping much at that point. The larger versions have higher head ratings so the 1500 GPH version is a better choice but maybe more than the OP needs.
EDIT: I found a listing on ebay for the 900. At 0' feet it does 900 GPH, at 2' its already down to 686 GPH and at 6 ' its only 92 GPH. Not very good for our uses.
