Suggestions on temp. controller

I don't have apex system so I'm going with this route. What temperature controller are you using? I've did some research, it looks like Ranco is very popular. Let me hear your opinions

Ranco is the most popular option from what I've read. You already have a heater? I have the finnex heater with their attached controller & it's been pretty accurate. When you factor in the ranco price, you might as well invest in a aquarium controller if you can; unless you can find a good used ranco at a nice price.

I'm going theouhh this right now and it doesn't make sense. Either get an apex Jr or go with reefkeeper lite. The external heaters are not super reliable and for just a little more you can get a RKL and have it control extra stuff

I dont have a chiller.

I thought about getting Apex Jr. but i'm not a huge fan of more gadgets, my biggest concern is the heating issues. Why do you said sometime the external control fail? That's the same as Apex correct?
