If I have a 55 gallon display tank, what size should my sump be? Any suggestions on skimmers? Looking at overflow setup instead of drilled holes

Also what GPH should I shoot for in a return pump? Thanks!

1) A sump should have enough volume to handle back siphoning. Can use a calculator to determine volume. LxWx however deep you plan to keep the lowest return line.

2) I’m a reef octo fan

3) I favored drilled to overflow. Had to many issues in past with siphon breaking

4) 5-10x of tank size after accounting for head pressure is a good target.

Look into Deltec skimmers too. Those are good ones to get. Also, I'll suggest the Bubble Magus Curve 5 elite skimmer. I see a lot of people use that one and like it.
