UPDATE
I've been keeping an eye on him lately and his favorite spot to hang out is right out of the water but he hasn't climbed completely out again

I push him back in and ten minutes later he is back in the upper corner. It's weird cause it's always this corner.

Not sure if this means anything but....my hermit seems to be eating the sealant on my tank, and I see you have excess right where your hermit is.

Try spot-feeding him a little bit and see what he does.
