Hello all,

how much sodium sulfate do i need to add to my alk recipe ?
im using the 3 part - alk sodium hydroxide version 282g into 1 gallon, cal, and magnesium
but ive recently switched to from magflake to seachem reef advantage magnesium which is pre ionically balanced (sodium sulfate + sodium chloride)
switching cause ICP shows lithium and zinc high, so i think its from these hardware salts. my best guess.

so if i took the mag part of the equation cause its pre-balanced, how much sulfate do i add to the alk to balance the alk and cal out?

is it like ~16% less? 68g sulfate > 57g?

(i switched from dowflake to pharma grade anhydrous cal chloride too)
i liked the 2 part recipe but switching back to separate mag cause i always had to adjust for it, or calcium eventually anyway.
also using + AF reef mineral salt
+ FM trace balling light ''

thanks randy

Seachem reef magnesium has an odd recipe using sodium chloride and Epsom salt. Not the best way, IMO, but I'd finish up what you have.

If you are using the AF mineral salt, and using a balanced mag supplement, there's no need for more sulfate.
