Starring a thread on a new sump build!!

So I started building a sump for a 300g tank I'll be working on building and setup over the next year. Started building the sump about 2 weeks ago and it's coming together quite nicely. Started off with a 90g 48L 24H 18W that I had my first tank setup, removed all the glass, cleaned and removed the silicone and cut and siliconed it with new dimensions 48L 12H 24W. I went down to my lfs and picked up a 40g to use for baffles and same process. here's some progress! (Garage is a mess I know!)

Curious - how much do you think it will cost when everything is done? Is there a reason you chose glass as compared to acrylic?

Well cost,
- the 90g essentially free I already had it
- 40g $60 from lfs
- silicone and glass scribing tool(amazon) maybe another $40
- I'll need to buy some uniseal for the drains and returns and I'm thinking a sheet of acrylic for a lid so I can cut weird shapes for around the reactors and skimmer etc.
And then just my time really lol, maybe have 7 or 8 hours into it roughly

I'm in civil construction run excavator and site supervisor, been a carpenter and Mason as well, but I've always enjoyed building things myself, did a couple guitars too lol

Very nice - I didnt realize you used an old tank. Its far better than I could have done!!! nice work

PS - I had a dream that I was sitting in front of my tank - true story - last night. I noticed some water drops along the bottom edge. Thought - hmm - weird condensation. then they were everywhere around the tank. Then the tank basically completely fell apart - all the walls fell apart spontaneously. My wife says 'whats the noise' - I said 'get a bucket' - then I woke up:)... Sorry to derail the thread:)

Once I'm done with the baffles I'll give it 7 days and perform a leak test, the actual tank silicone should be cured for about 2 to 3 weeks by then

Looks like an amazing start to a diy sump. BTW your garage is not messy looking. It still looks like you have room to walk around without stepping over tools so you're still good.
I diy a lot of stuff but I've never had the nerve to start with just sheets of glass to make an aquarium/sump.

Hahahaha every reefer nightmare, I've woken up to a few wet floors myself, luckily in the basement on vinyl flooring
