Designing the 20 gallon long sump for my 40 breeder reef tank. I want to go with a triton method ideology with the big refugium and no mechanical filtration. I may go the full triton method with the 4 part dosing, but want the system to still work if I decide to switch it up to a more conventional method. The display will be mostly LPS and softies, but who knows if it'll morph into an SPS system at some point. Skimmer is a Bubble Magus Curve 5.

Here are the two designs I've come up with. Blue is return, red is emergency drain, green is primary drain and gray is secondary drain. GV = gate valve.
The 1st feels to have a bit cleaner plumbing but the fuge will get the full drain from the display where as 2nd design has the fuge split off with a gate valve.

Experiences and opinions are very appreciated!
