sump drain pipes

I am getting a new sump. won't come with the pvc drains for inside the sump like my lifereef sump did. i have a few ideas for designs for it. a straight pipe is one. then another idea is a pvc cut at and angle with slots sawed into it. would like to see what everyone's else looks like. I imagine theres not to many variation on the drain pipes like in the picture shown in the back left hand corner in the picture.

All you need is straight pipe 1" below the water level.
