Hi guys, so I’m working on building my sump, due to the size of my stand my 20 gallon long won’t fit so I purchased a 10 gallon. After getting my curve 5 skimmer I realized it takes up almost half of the 10 gallon. OTher equipment I want to use was a BRS mini reactor, return pump, rock rubble, and some marine pure blocks. So my two options are to use the stand and this 10 gallon and sacrifice no refugium or make a stand that would fit my 20 long. I’ve never done a stand but it doesn’t seems something that is impossible. So what do you suggest?

You can definitely make a wider stand and it wont be a problem. Especially 2x4 construction. You may want to have 3/4" ply on the top. I was originally planning on making a 46 inch stand for a 40 breeder.

I would go ahead & up-size. It would be much more difficult to get the system established, then decided that you wanted or needed the extra space. This hobby is full of continious improvement, & you will certainly fill the space in the larger sump.

I would either cut down the 20 long, or build a custom sump as big as possible. Otherwise I would build a new stand, or use the excuse to get a 220 gallon tank. :D
