Hey all,

Looking for some help with my sump noise. I bought this from a fellow reefer and have been running it for some time, lately the whole return system has been louder than normal. The pump is pretty quiet but the overflow is very loud and so in the water when it reaches the sump. I have been using filter socks but it seems to clog them everyday. Just looking for some advice on how to quiet it down.

Assure your return pipe is submersed under water
To quiet mine, I added rocks where water comes in and it silenced the flow plus rocks hold added bacteria

What drain system do you use? Looks like a herbie setup that's been converted to a durso. A full herbie makes less noise. Use a gate valve for better fine tuning.

First look up and start using a durso overflow. It will make it dead quiet.

next make drain in sump under the surface 4" in your filter sock.

you should not have over 200-600 gph anymore is not needed and noisy
