So I am upgrading to a IM 200 EXT. My current sump is a 75 gallon marineland that I built into the sump. The dimensions are L 48.4 W 18.4 H 21. My first thought is to reduce drainage plumbing and reduce resistance is to put the drains straight down into the middle of the sump. Essentially the area that is the return today. The second is do I really need the bubble trap ? Third is if I moving everything around, restructure for auto filter roller. After researching it seem the safest bet for a good experience is the RedSea ReefMat 1200. which RedSea state requires 8.1" x 17.3" (5.2 is for hose space). My first reaction was HolyS$#t that is a lot. Since the width of the inside of my sump is 17.2 it might just fit.
Current Layout
Do you all think I need a bubble trap prior to the new return ?
Should I seperate the skimmer and media from the drain and Reefmat ? I am thinking it would provide more control for the skimmer.
Thank you in advance for use of your brains and experience.
