Ok. I am having a 100 gall tank built with a external coast to coast overflow. The overflow I’ll sit over the stand allowing me to plumb straight down into the sump. Even though this would be great for a peninsula it’s going to be going against a wall due to limited space in the house I rent.

I kinda have an idea of how I want it to work.
But I need y’all’s thoughts. I’ve included my drawing with measurements and then some pictures on where I got the idea from.

The drain lines on the sump side will be on the short end. The sump is 36 L x 15 w x 17 T

I currently have a 75 g FYI.
I do not run a skimmer or any other media (I’m fighting keeping my no3 and no4 up as it is.

I do have a refugium and a bunch of rocks in my current sump set up.

So I guess here’s the pictures and I’ll wait for y’all’s input

IMG_6181.png

Off to the left of the side view would be top down views.
It is an acrylic sump

And here are photos I stole from the internet so you can have a actual visual vs my messing around on excel

The sump I want is capable of doing a bean animal overflow but it’s not what I’m going with. The overflow will be drilled with 4 lines two for drains two for returns.

Sump looks fine to me, assuming your measurements can accommodate the equipment you are planning on using. I don't really understand using filter floss in the far baffle? Unless you are using it as a bubble trap of some kind, though I imagine a coarser foam would work for that.

Either one really. But I do t use “equipment” unless chateo is equipment. Lol. Sometime stuff gets by my filters and I want to have to option to throw stuff in their …. Current sump I always have coarse foam and it catches free floating escape artist bits of chateo! So no clogged return pump.

Which reminds me I still need to get a pump for the new tank

No reason for socks and floss. However the area you have “space for filter floss” you should add two removable sections of egg crate to make shelves to place things if needed

Purigen packs, chemipure packs, media bags with whatever you want (matrix is great in case you need to seed a quarantine tank), or whatever you want. If you don’t run anything like that, get the shelves anyways. You can leave them empty. It gives you the ability in the future for a way to add whatever you want and have all water forcibly pass through.

If you need floss or coarser stuff, you can use it to hold that in place also

Just adding these little acrylic stand offs, eggcrate media platforms can rest on them and make 2 media shelves

You know I never thought about putting other stuff there (media bags and such) that’s a really good idea!

:)

:p

I am! I got fast chargers all over now, i charge at 10-15watts. Prior i was charging at 5w with those little freebie usb cubes. I get to 80% in less than 30 min

For the shelves, it’s one of the main reasons I picked the sump I have

Trigger Ruby 30S

I keep 2 bags of chemipure and a media bag of matrix on the lower shelf. Top shelf I leave empty but if I stir up a lot of detritus I’ll throw floss there temporarily.

I would ditch the filtersock for a roller mat unless you like to change them out every 2-3 days, or deal with clogged filter sock, lowering the water level and pumping air into your display.
Is that what you have?

Reef diapers is an alternative

Media cups that fit in the filter sock holes is another option - you could fill these with floss and change out as needed

You could have no socks and use them on an as needed basis like after a cleaning

I personally don’t use socks, floss or any mechanical filtration. I don’t run a skimmer either. And I haven’t done a water change in probably 4 years. Workin out good for me ;)

So can I be a tester.
You give me one and I’ll test it and leave a honest review
