Suspended light fixtures

I currently have a 4 bulb T5vho fixture mounted in my canopy and just remove it and the canopy when I clean or am moving rocks and corals around. What do those of you that have a suspended light fixture(s) do? What kind of systems do you use to move the fixtures out of the way when you need to spend time bent over your tank? Thanks!

This is exactly why I got rid of my canopy and suspended my lights. So much more room to work on the tank. Check out my build thread, i used conduit to suspend my fixture, couldn't be happier. I have a shallow tank so the light is suspended quite high, thus it provides a lot of extra working room, but if you had a taller tank, you could easily just raise the fixture on the suspension wires while doing maintenance, then lower the fixture back into its correct placement when done.

Are the suspension wires easily adjusted for raising and lowering? I do have a tall tank (std 90gal). So would need a way to move it out of the way if suspended. Thanks!

Yea. I have an ATI fixture using the ATI suspension kit, ordered from BRS; works great. Very easy to raise and lower this light, takes seconds. Look for a suspension kit for your fixture, if they don't make one, you could probably modify a suspension kit to work with your fixture.

You could also do a light arm if you can't hang the fixture from the ceiling.

It makes everything a lot cleaner.
