Swannyson7's 180g mixed reef

If it's turned all the way down, then what's the point of dropping 3 bills on a vortech? I'm running four vortechs on my DT and they are undoubtedly great pumps, but I can't justify dropping the cash for a frag tank when I can just swap out the racks for $10 in eggcrate. I may just trim an inch off of each side of the acrlyic frag racks so that it allows more flow and see how that works out. Right now I'm got two maxijet 600s along with a Seio 840 and a Mag 3 return. For a 9 gallon tank, thats a whole lot of flow

True that. Eggcrate does sound like a better idea...and, of course, much cheaper. I always think of a purchase that its something that I could use later as well, so I you upgraded your tank or whatever, you'd have the pump :)

True, but I don't see an upgrade in the near future. Probably going to stick with the 180 until I get a new house where I have a basement and can put a big boy in there. Someday I want to have a 500+, but for now I just have to dream

Man Swanny, your tank is one of my all time favorites! I love your pic updates!

Thanks! Now I just need to add a few more clams to get to the top of your list...

I was actually looking at some maximas & croceas the other day at the LFS. There were a couple really nice teardrops and one black & white maxima, but they were really pricey. The Croceas were on sale thoguh for only $30, so I might grab one or two this week! I'll be sure to post if I do

HOLY COW! Did it poop gold too?
lol, right? THe teardrops weren't too bad though. They were $100 for 3-4" clams and had some really nice coloration. I wish I took pics.

That is a good price for teardrops, especially if they have more than just gold n black to them.

The had a bit of blue that almost looked green with a topdown view

You should get it then, that is a screaming deal for a colored teardrop. I paid $150 for my blue teardrop.

I might pick it up when I head back if they still have it. I stopped in for a couple filter socks and a calcium test kit and didn't have the cash at the time.

I got ambitious today and decided to scrape all the coraline off the back & sides of the tank, so I decided to snap a couple pics. Unfortunately the light cycle was down to actinics, which I can never get good pictures of, but at least the tank is clean!

I love pics of nice clean tanks. Looking really great, keep up the good work.

Thanks guys! It took almost 3 hours to get it all off the back glass and I made some unexpected frags in the process, but I love how clean it looks!

I like the rock work. I am to lazy to scrape all my coralline of of my glass. If it isn't blocking my view who cares. By the way, that is a HUGE clarkii.
