Jumanji. He has gained his skin health back and I recently had to upgrade his plug as he had over grown the 1 incher. Im confident he will continue to recover and will hopefully shoot a new branch before long so I know he’s fully recovered. This is a game of patience, let me tell you.

Here’s his partner, right beside him... LEGOLAND

And here’s one I recently acquired. Still a ways to get it colored up after shipping/dipping but he’s lookin real good so far!

They’re looking great. You’re getting faster growth than I am with mine. Put me on the waiting list for the Lego land. We can trade when my Gnomeo is ready……sometime in 2025
The only issue I have with the Legoland is the PE. It’s never had the typical PE that most Speciosa have for some reason.

The corallite formation on it is very interesting. Looks like it just has small polyps. They will probably get bigger as it matures. My jumanji polyps look a little different than yours.

Let’s see your Jumanji. Curious about the differences.
So in the last 6 weeks I have had to replace my lights and my phone. I don’t know if it’s the lights or the phone but I can not seem to take good pics anymore. These are the best I have been able to figure out so far.

I’ve found phones are often much better at getting fish pictures than coral, if your flow is rather high when taking photos then your phone may not be able to focus properly on the individual polyps.

You’re right, your polyps are a bit darker. And your PE is off the chain. But your PE is like that on all your stuff so I’m not surprised lol. Are you getting any encrusting going on? It’s hard to tell from the cam angle.

In the pics, the Gnomeo and your jumanji appear to be the same coral? At least to my eyes anyway

My guess is that my polyps will darken the more it recovers. As I mentioned, the skin is a bit lighter than it was when I got it. Time will tell...

I’m curious, have you ever seen a red/orange Montipora digitata with golden specks on some of its newer polyps?
This is mine that I picked up on Saturday

I can’t say that I’m well versed in Digitata but early in the hobby I had a piece similar to this and I do recall that the newer polyps were a different color than the older polyps, but I can’t remember how

Yes they are both encrusting. I mounted them on upside down plugs hoping to new branches quicker. The method paid off nicely on the coral above the Gnomeo. They are both about halfway down the plug stem 9 months in the tank. They are similar but my jumanji is touched greener than the bluer Gnomeo. Really hard to see in these awful pics. I’m really disappointed in this new iPhone 13 pro camera.

Check your magnesium. My orange digitata used to have occasional while polyps scattered around it when Mg was ~1200. Bumped it to 1350 and the problem is almost non existent now.

Before you mounted them on the upside down frag plugs were they encrusted on the base of the plug? If so, how did you deal with the encrusted part?

It’s strange because the LFS (Which has thriving monti digis, and other acros in the same tank) I went to has had this coral for ages and it is a properly gold polyp, although iPhone cameras despise many of the colours we enjoy on coral so they show up more white than usual.

Everything really. All of them seem to have a brownish/reddish haze to them and I can’t get some top down pic of some corals at all bc it will not focus. Here’s an old pic with new pic comparison
Old pic
All I had to do was put my brown filter on

New
I have to change my light settings to 18.5k which is much bluer than I like

I am not sure if that coral is supposed to look that way. The one I had was all orange before I got and the change happened in my tank.

I’ll let it grow out and we’ll see, I know the guy in the LFS was interested in the golden speckles on the polyps the weirdest thing with it is the polyps are all round the edge of the coral so they’ll be newer growth than the deep orange polyps.
