When I switch to BRS from Red Sea liquid Cal., do I need to adjust the quantity of liquid dosed? They are both C. Chloride but don't know if they are equal concentration. The Red Sea also has strontium, which may or may not effect the amount of liquid dosed. if not equal, how much Brs do I need to equal 32ml/day? Don't trust my math anymore.
Thanks

Yes you will need to change the amount. Measure how much ppm calcium you use in 24hr and then use the BRS calculator so see how much you need to dose.

Thanks!
I already know how much R.S. liquid to dose. Isn't there an equivalency chart or something? 10 ml RS cal = x ml BRS Cal?

red sea calcium is 1ml = 2ppm calcium per 25 gallons

Yes, it is.

Therefore you just do some math and figure out how much ppm you use in a day for calcium. Then go onto bulk reef's calculator for calcium chloride new liquid pharma. Once you are there, see how many mL's it takes to get from 0 to x ppm (x being your current ppm usage).

Ya, you're absolutly right. This is where the "Don't trust my math anymore" part comes in, lol. Sad, but true.
Thanks Spare Time. That's likely what I'll end up doing, and hope for the best.

32ml red sea = 64 ppm calcium per 25g. How big is the tank?

It's a 100 gal. I'm only adding 8ml/day of the Red Sea Calcium. And 30ml BRS Alk. But that's another thread.
So if my math is good, I'm adding 4ppm/day calcium.?

I just realized It's Alk I'm adding at 32ml/day and cal at 8ml. Sorry. Hence not rusting my math.

1ml raises it by 2ppm in a 25 gallon. You have 4x the size tank. Therefore it is 4ml to raise it by 2ppm per 100 gallon. 8ml would = 4ppm calcium in your tank. So this would be 40.9ml of BRS calcium chloride to raise you calcium by 4ppm.

WOW. That's what I came up with too. But it takes 8ml Red Sea and 40.9ml of BRS to add 4ppm to my tank? That's a BIG difference in amount dosed. I don't know what strength BRS mixes to.

Seems about right. Brs to part is designed to be 1:1 dose of calcium and alkalinity, so 32ml alk and 40ml calcium is about right

Red sea tries to make their product as concentrated as you can get at the cost of making their alk and calcium not dosed with even amounts
