Switching tanks

I have a 6ish month old 30 gallon tank running now.

I recently grabbed a 65 jbj AIO off marketplace for $300.

I have a few questions.

1. Can I use my current sand bed in my new tank W/o washing
2. I plan to wash and reuse the jbj sand. Should I just wash it all?
3. I have the rock in a holding tank w a pump and heater I. My basement. Do I need a light?
4. Will using established rock, sand and water allow me to do an immediate transfer of inhabitants?

1. I don’t reuse sand but it you do then yes, Or a mix of old and new.
2. Yup, rinse.
3.Nope.
4.Yes it does as its “live rock” now.

I agree with all the above. I recently did a tank swap. Moved all my sand, rocks, and livestock over in one day. I used the swap as an opportunity to rinse out my sand. I did so with water from the old tank. For the new tank I used 50% old water and 50% new water since that was the amount I could easily have on hand (~125g system after rock displacement).

Not rinsing sand has the potential to stir up bad bacteria, at least that's what I've read and believe, and as such I would rinse it, or just use new (and rinsed) sand.

Thanks for the replies. I kinda figured that the sand would be a risk but was. It sure.
