T247 and optics

Ok I've got one of these fixtures over a 40b 36" long. It's about 14" over the tank and it just isn't covering the whole tank, I do believe there are rated for 24x24. But was wondering who has played with new optics or even removed the optics and what results they got?

I am actually interested as well in this question. I have had these lights for a about 3 years now and they are doing good but I have read in the past of people switching the white led's to royal blue.

I would like some input on others mods on these lights. Thx!
