I have a reefbreeder photon v2 and I am thinking of adding 2 t5s (front and back of the unit). I want more growth out of my SPS. I am hesitant on increasing my LEDs because I don't want to start burning tips. Which bulb should I go with? I assume the blue+. Also, I assume I should reduce my LEDs by about 50% once I add the t5s. They would be going over a 90g standard

2B+ and 2 C + with Hydra 26 HDs . But I'm thinking about swapping out a C+ or both for 6500k . They would only be on during peak LED time ( I won't see it!)

On my side i use ATI Purple Plus 2x and Actinic 2x


I love the actinic look, i wish i had the giesmann purple instead, i made a video on the Hybrid Fixture,
You can see the color difference On and Off around 15:12

Eventually i will make comparaison between All T5 possible, it's a project i have in mind, but i need to save some money ;)

I have been thinking about changing lighting for a while now, looking at other combinations, etc. I have a T-5 4 bulb fixture with 3 modes. Whites, Blues, and Nights. The white mode turns on 2 bulbs and the blues does the same. The night mode turns on blue LEDs "moonlights"

I only have Giesemann bulbs since that is what my LFS sells. I was looking into ATI bulbs for the future though.

My light schedule: Blues: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Whites: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Night: 9 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Bulbs I currently have in: 2x Actinic Blue (39W) (Blue Mode)
1x Aquablue + (39W) (Whites Mode)
1x Super Actinic (39W) (Whites Mode)

Let me know some suggestions or a different combination to try. I also have another Actinic Blue bulb, and an Aquatic Life T5 HO Purple bulb.

That is one way to make a combo T5 and LED fixture haha the easiest way I've ever seen it done. If its effective nice, nice!

I have 3 B+, 1 C+ and Kessils at 60% color and 90% intensity.

What size tank?

Two Blue+, one AquaBlue Special, and one Purple+ along with two Kessil A360WEs (60% color). Chose this selection purely based on aesthetics (12kish look).

Edit: What led to your recommendations?

I don’t know how you run that. I really didn’t like the purple+ and I saw in an old thread an ATI rep saying it’s way too purple if you have less than 8 bulbs. I tried the aqua special too but I get the coral+ was much nicer.

Here’s my tank with 3 blue+ 1 coral+ and 4 Primes. Orange filter skews it a bit but it’s pretty close to the eye.
