Hi all,

I’m getting a few fish from Tahiti, including an Achilles tang and a flame angelfish.

I have never had fish from French Polynesia before. Is there any particular issues I should be concerned about regarding QT treatments or any disease prevalence from this region?

Thanks

Are they arriving directly from Tahiti, or are they going to transit through a wholesaler?

Flame hawkfish are notorious for developing Neobendenia flukes. Other than that, I've not had any particular issues with fish from that region.

I have a clue where these are coming from and recommend especially with the Achilles, quarantining in a separate tank for 30 days with coppersafe at 2.25ppm as a safeguard from disease

Im not sure of the actual supply chain, it’s via my LFS but judging by the fish on sale it has to be Tahiti and it’s new. @vetteguy53081 can you dm me on where you think they are coming from because I’m quite interested? I was planning on 14 days copper but 30 won’t be a problem. I do have the flame angel already and it’s under copper safe for 24hrs already. Would you say extent this too?
Everything in this tank has been qt’d for the Achilles especially, literally everything. So I want to get it right. It will be the only acanthurus.

If you say they were quarantined and by supplier, do your own quarantine process and with no signs, add others to flame and treat 28 more days. If not already, monitor the copper level with a Hanna Brand Test kit and same with ammonia- keep an eye on that level

Jay Don’t know if it changes your comment but he mentioned it was a flame angelfish not a hawk fish

I understand, I just added the comment about the flame hawks, as those are the only fish from that region that I know have an unusual disease issue.....
