Hi guys over the last few days I noticed my new magician zoas has what looked like skirt loss. I attributed it to my scarlet cleaner shrimp and made sure he was well fed last night. I came home today and actually noticed my tailspot nipping at the skirts. From what I can tell this is the only coral he's started eating. The smaller zoas seem fine. I have since moved the frag onto a frag rock at the other end of the tank. Seems like I will have to pick between my zoas or my fish. Sucks as these immediately were my favorite corals after I bought them a week ago.

Moral of the story is even 'reef safe' fish may not be entirely reef safe!

My tailspot pecked algea off the rocks but never touched a coral. One of my all time favorite fish.
I did glue the frag next to where he sleeps at night so perhaps he initially nipped as it was in his way. Fingers crossed he leaves it alone now.

Have you had the " That's bad" conversation with him? Which is a nice way of saying "your butt is gonna get sumped if you keep it up"

I'm to much of a softie to actually do it but the threat of it keeps my fish in check.
You do realize that their tiny little fish brains have forgotten what we scolded them about 5 seconds after we've told them, yes? :face-with-tears-of-joy:

The only fish i had that could shift from fifth gear to reverse. He always backed into his cave. Velvet got him about a year ago. I’ll get another one sooner or later.

I hate to be that guy, but sometimes a fish that eats zoanthids isn’t always a bad guy in my book :grimacing-face::face-with-tears-of-joy:

UPDATE

I lied, he is NOT 'eating' them. I put it on my frag rack and they were all fully opened today with no skirts missing as far as I can tell. He was however definitely either eating algae around them disturbing them which caused them to close up. I glued them back to their original spot today.

My apologies tailspot :face-savoring-food:

Do we need to set up there tailspot police for wrongly accused blennies? Consider yourself on watch.
