vibrant is weird. I’ve double dosed to get rid of red turf algae. Because the regular dose wasn’t working. Almost killed everything except for my softies... luckily I had a friend to rescue the all of my sps and lps. They’ve been in his tank for about a month and are finally starting to come back from the brown poo they looked like. But on the bright side I got rid of the turf algae . Did a series of large water changes and rebooted the tank..

All that aside your tank is looking great. I’m a huge Kessil fan and I’m glad to hear your enjoying their new product!! This hobby wouldn’t be fun without the challenges.. oh wait yea it would!

16 days without dinos... Been running the UV for about a week now. I’m feeding my corals pretty heavily every couple days to help them bounce back, and they are– which is a huge relief! There’s a fair bit of red cyano that I turkey baste off once or twice a week but it’s manageable.

vibrant is weird. [...] Almost killed everything except for my softies...

Yikes- it did quite a number on my tank too, but it got me the results I needed, so... - lemme know how you go with getting everything re-established, @Grant Lowry.

My green hammer is starting to look a bit happier. So am I.

My parents came over for dinner on Friday night and we finished off the dinner party by moving the new banggai cardinal and 6-line out of QT and into the display. Hurray! I love graduation day almost as much as I love imposing my hobby on my family...

The bigger clown and the royal gramma got a bit territorial with the wrasse, but that seems to have subsided.

Last week I also added a white porcelain crab and a few new corals. A symphilia, a caulastrea and an octospawn. The tank no longer feels so empty!

Dinos: still gone :)

Still looking good!
Your rock looks really good.

I tried vibrant and almost lost everything except Dinos.
Not saying it does not work but it did not work for me.

I graduated!

Or, rather, I added graduations to my kalkwasser reservoir last night.

My DOS is currently set to dose 580ml of saturated kalk per day, so this 4L container gives me about a week. I’m holding steady at 8.7dKH.

I’ve also started VV carbon dosing, which I add to my kalk reservoir whenever I top it off. I’ve ramped up over the past few months, and my ratio is now 100:1 water to vinegar and 400:1 water to vodka, so to 4L of water I’d add 40mL vinegar and 10mL vodka. NO3 is at 2.5 and PO4 at 0.02. I think I’m happy with that.

My cleaner shrimp died outta nowhere last week. Everyone else is happy, healthy and growing. He will be missed. Then he will be replaced...

Happy birthday fish tank!

Today marks 1 year since the tank first got wet. It's been fun, but I'm also enjoying a much more mature and stable tank.

Current stocking list

Fish & Inverts:

  • Hippo tang
  • 6-line wrasse
  • Royal gramma
  • Banggai cardinal

  • 1 Massive long-spined urchin

  • Cleaner shrimp
  • Fire shrimp
  • 2 sexy shrimp (maybe?? I haven't seen them once since I added them)

  • White porcelain crab
  • Various hermits,
  • Baby snails! (dozens & dozens of them just appeared a few days ago...)
  • A Handful of asterina stars
Corals:
  • Neon Green hammer
  • Green & purple hammer
  • Purple octospawn
  • Green palys
  • Teal caulastrea
  • Duncan
  • Pipe organ
  • 3 Various gorgonians
  • Chalice
  • 2 Kenya trees
  • 1 Single acan (lost his brothers but somehow still holding on)
  • 1 Orange, 1 green hairy mushroom
  • Turquoise birds nest
  • 3 Various unknown green acros

  • Forest fire digi (for now... on its way out)
  • Pink symphyllia (STN. On its way out)

Over the next few months I'll be adding a few new fish (starting with a yellow tang), another cleaner shrimp (I love that guy) and I'd like to get a zoa garden started. I'm also long overdue for a real deep clean (break down the skimmer, clean off all the salt creep, etc.)

Thanks R2R for all the help & advice over the past year. Here's to the next one!

Looks great! Question, How do you set up the moonlights on the 360x controller? I’ve tried before but it seems to have a separate program for just lunar cycle? But it doesn’t automatically come on after I enter my desired start and end times. I haven’t been able to figure it out... I do however have a good custom spectrum ;)
