I have my first tang in QT (white tail bristletooth) for 2 days now after receiving online from NYaquatic. It’s a 15 gal setup with pvc, airstone, some seeded biomedia. I don’t see any obvious signs of disease at this point, but the tang has been constantly racing up and down the glass at its reflection any time the lights are on. I’m worried the stress of the confined space and no rock work will stress it out more than the benefit of QT at this point. I’m observing only right now but have copper and prazipro if needed. Display is 75 gal with 5 other smaller fish.

Appreciate any advice with this situation!

You can get some cheap plastic aquarium plants from Amazon, maybe add those in to add some more cover. Also, ambient light is plenty, he can do without main lights for a little while

I have the exact same fish and brought it through QT with copper without issue. My WT Bristletooth is somewhat neurotic. After I got him out of QT he swam around in a small circle towards the back of my tank for 3 weeks straight! Eventually he settled in and is fat and happy now. Even now he likes to swim in circles every so often but usually cruises around the rockwork picking at the rock or glass all day long. He is probably the single most active swimmer in my tank and one of the hardest working fish.

I believe WT Bristletooth and tang’s in generally handle copper really well so I would not hesitate with starting the medicated QT. QT is a good place to get the WT used to eating nori.

Appreciate the advice, I guess it’s comforting your fish is also neurotic lol. Seems like a fitting name… I’m trying to get it to eat a little more and I’ll plan to start copper in a day or so

I have the qt tank in a storage room, there’s essentially no ambient light. Right now I have a white led on 10% intensity, still think I should cut the light?
I would put the light on a daylight reschedule. If the light doesn’t have a controller then you can use a smart plug from Amazon to set a schedule. I QT’d my WT Bristletooth in a 10g without issue. You have a 15g so that should be fine from a space perspective for a few weeks.
