Purchased this whitetail bristletooth tang a few weeks ago, has been in my observation tank (30 gallon). He has Been eating very well, VERY shy tho. I noticed yesterday one of his eyes were cloudy. Today I pulled him and snapped a few pics just before doing a 5 minute freshwater dip.
It definitely looked like some flukes came off of him. Looked like maybe one on the eye fell off. I also noticed the discoloration to the lower chin as well.
He seems very pale compared to other whitetail tangs I’ve seen. What do you guys think I should do?

I would deal with the flukes first using prazipro. There might also be an infection going on.

everyone asked for pictures and I couldn’t figure out how to add them to original post the first one so I just redid it with the photographs that everyone asked for since I was able to do the pictures and performed the freshwater dip. I also couldn’t figure out how to delete the post from yesterday. But thank you for your response.

Keep checking for/treat for the flukes. He is not feeling well right now so hence the discoloration. He will improve on his own. Bristletooths are very hardy. Just keep an eye on him and report any strange behavior.

While flukes are unconfirmed, but not ruled out, the mouth seems to have damage and rot present and fish will need to be quarantined and treated with Ruby rally pro which will address the mouth issue and flukes if present.
Other option still in quarantine would be praziPro and seachem kanaplex. Add aeration with air stone if going this route to increase oxygen which is decrease with use of praziquantel treatment

I’ve never heard of the rally pro before? Would you recommend that over the prazipro route in QT?

Prazi more effective with worms and flukes however, ruby rally is a wide treatment for a number of issues and can be safely used in display tank with inverts and coral

Wow havnet heard of ruby rally either...primary treatment fluke only? I was caution never to add anything other than the 1 or 2 herbals to the main DT if you have corals and inverts to treat fish before. If this is different how does it work? Thanks...

If you saw little oval things in the dip water afterwards, I'd say it has Neobenedenia flukes. Those can cause that skin discoloration.

Since it is in an observation tank, what about running hyposalinity?
