Hello all,

I'm working on stocking our tank. We have a 40 gallon breeder with a Tangaroa Goby, 2 clowns, 1 Melanurus Wrasse. I'm looking for something to sift/clean the sand bed a bit and was thinking about a Diamond Watchman Goby. LiveAquaria is currently having a sale on them so a large one is $30. I don't want it fighting with the Tangaroa which looks pretty similar (granted it stays way smaller and doesn't really sift sand). I was curious as to the thoughts on this pairing?

I think in a 40g breeder you might be pushing your luck, but it's possible. I don't think anybody can give you a sure fire answer as fish behavior isn't a fixed thing. They all have their own personalities.

Good luck.

I've pushed the pause button on it for now. I have a chromis and a wrasse coming in for QT. That'll give others time to respond and more time to think it through. From a personality standpoint, I think I'd prefer the Diamond Watchman Goby anyway as the Tangaroa lays on the sand bed at the back of the tank for days on end. I think my kids forgot he's even in the tank.
