Anybody have pointers on getting my tang to partake in the algae sheets. He wont gone the algae holder to see what it's about... I put it in the tank and he will scurry off to a rock, but I also don't leave it in there over night. Its a printed reef algae holder so I am thinking maybe just a traditional clip on a magnet may be best.

Also do you guys leave your nori in the tank overnight?

Took my chocolate tang around 2 months to learn. Took my purple tang like 4 months to learn. Just keep it there over and over their eventual get it. I feed nori everyday and gets picked off by end of day just leave it and redo it next day

I've tried everything and my tang won't touch it. I've had him almost a year.

My fish are afraid of nori. Only my file fish eats it and will take it from my fingers.
I feed the cubes and my tang and angelfish love it.

My yellow tang loves nori, I use the below products. You can also try simply using a piece of rock to weigh down a folded up sheet to get them used to it, slightly more "natural" than a clip or holder.

I put the clip in when I was putting in my “normal” food. Took my blue tang 4 days to realise it was food and now eats it like a pig. I leave it in overnight and take it back out in the morning a couple of hours before daily feeding

My yellow tang would not eat nori off a magnet clip either. I followed the above advice and rubber banded it to a rock placed on the sand, and he ate it. My angels started eating it too. More like their natural grazing behavior I guess. But I didn't like looking at rubber bands in my tank, so I glued some rocks to an algae clip and stuck that in the sand instead. That worked too!

Now they'll eat it from the magnet clip as well.

I also like the red variety of Sea Veggies. It is actually dried pieces of seaweed rather than pressed sheets like nori (the green and purple varieties of Sea Veggies are nori sheets). The fish love the red stuff and it doesn't turn to mush in the tank as quickly if uneaten.

I've never had any trouble getting fish to eat nori on the mag clip. Mine lasts about 15 minutes and it's chewed down to the clip. Maybe it's the particular nori that some fish don't like, I feed mine the cheapest nori from amazon, 100 sheets for $14, and they attack it when I put it in every morning. In my tank you gotta get in there and get some otherwise you get none.

My chocolate tang would not eat it from the clip while in QT but soon found out from the other fish once in the display tank what it was, now hes the one who gets first pick of it.
