Tank accident help

My heater controller fell off the double sided tape that it was holding up up dumb me it wasn’t meant to be permanent just more to make sure everything worked… but I was at work and the wife didn’t notice right away and it kinda burned up and was smoking… is it going to hurt the tank.. it is cycling so no fish or anything

Yeah that doesn’t sound good. I would do a 100 percent water change to be safe.

The tank is nearly 200 gallons so 100 percent changes are not really possible

Get a polyfilter or chemipure to remove any pollutants that may be present and skip the water change.

Neither product will prevent cycling. With nitrates showing up you are well on the way to having a biological filter.
