tank background painting

Who paints their background? What kind of paint and color is best. .

I like black paint, and I use Krylon Fusion.

I also prefer black. It does not matter if its spray or brush/roll on as long as the coverage is good. I used to spray but figured out rolling it on gives me a thicker more durable coat. The last few have been acrylic latex which has worked fine and cleans up easy.

+1 with azdesertrat i used rust stop oil base black it smell's i did 5 layers realy thick first one is thin i did mine 5 time's real nice looking

I was leaning towards spray paint since it's cheap an easy..

black to me look's the best some people do blue. i think it just look.s nasty black is best IMO spray paintcover the top of the tank or you will have it all in side

painted mine blue the then after6 months hated looked dirty all the time so when I moved the tank across the room I went black and love it and as for what type of paint 1 quart of some cheap lowes house paint it was like 10 bucks or less

My reef is black but my mother in-law want the FOWLR blue because she said it looked more natural and the black would be depressing (tried to change her mind but that was a losing battle). I just use spray paint and painters tape and just tape everything up.

for the most part the paint will not adhere to glass and it will never have direct contact with water as you are painting the out side of the tank. i have used both Krylon spry and latex roll on, in blue and black. the blue seems to help add more light or at least it seems to brighten it up more. but overtime bring out the color of the algae growing on the glass. the black seems to do the opposite but seems to bring out the color of the corals more.

I use vinyl sign sticker.never loses color, it sticks like window tint,and easy to take off
