This is incredible a 55 year old reef... still the original tank?
Everything in it is original, but I changed the glass 3 times since 1971 because f scratches and I moved. But it has been running continuous for all that time.

I just picked up a smallish Royal Gramma and a 5" Colt Coral. I can't get a picture of the fish yet because he is in a hole and I can't see him yet. But he should come out today to eat some worms. 😀

I don't know why I got the Colt Coral, as I have them growing wild all over my tank.

I bought a second Royal Gramma a few days ago. This one much smaller than my existing one. It hid for 2 days but is out and about now. Am a big fan pf Royal grammas esp with more than just the one. I once had a harem of them over 8nyears ago.

Well, of course, you're a big fan of Royal Grammas. After all, you are English and into all that Royalty business.

It has been a long time since i had a royal gramma. I also has a magenta dottyback. They had plenty of room and didnt really cause much trouble. I hope the new addition is friendly.
Never had any problems with RGs. However. I have always kept them in 2s or groups.RGs aren't like the Dottybacks that are often aggressive even very aggressive towards other small fish.

Since a lot of good reefers follow your thread @Paul B , I’m gonna repost this here besides the regular forum…

I saw a video in passing on someone who was fragging a hammer. When he pulled out the hammer, the plug was still attached, and he showed the rock work where it almost looked like a rubber insert was in the rock making removal and replacement of the plug easy. Of course, I wasn’t paying too much attention at the time, and now I can’t find the video. Is there something out there like that?

Mikey, I have no Idea about anything like that, and I didn't think more than 5 or 6 people read my 598 page thread that was started before most members were born. 😎

Not sure about a rubber plug but there are plastic ones that you can insert into rock work then put the plug into it to make removal easier should you wish.

Got a link?

I don’t necessarily think it was rubber, just that it looked like it. And yeah, do you know what they are called or a link?

On a side note, started a new nano tank. I got a good deal on a 12g demo tank with a maxspect jump light. I set it up and used cycled rock from my LFS and live sand. I know I’m supposed to wait but I added a sacrificial chromis since it shouldn’t cycle much, and figuring dead or alive, it’s gonna help cycle.

I know I know, bad method. But he’s good thus far.
