Tank build info needed..

The tank will be 24x18x18 inches.

There will be a hole at the back center for overflow.

Would like to know:

1) thickness 8mm or 12mm??

2) Braces on the sided full length or 4 corner triangles? If 12mm, then braces required??

3) single 1" hole for overflow enough at 2000lph return pump? Will 8mm be able to hold the overflow pipe pressure?

4) over flow will be covered by 12"x6"x3" black acrylic diy box.

I have a rimless tank with 8mm glass, it is 32x18x14 without any braces, seems fine.

I always plan for at least two drilled holes, even on small tanks. Better safe than sorry! Besides two is more quiet. Also, keep in mine most 1" bulkheads require 1 3/4" holes.

Although I would just go for it with 8mm glass; as Bedrock says, a euro brace is a great solution if you are concerned about bowing, you could get away with 1.5" on the front and back easily, maybe even as little as an inch. I'm sure if you dig around someone has built a calculator or a formula at the very least.

Take this FWIW but Innovative Marines EXT 40 which is slightly larger than yours is rimless with an external overflow and uses only 8mm thick glass. I would personally say you'd be fine with either thickness in whatever configuration you desire, rimless or eurobraced:) is this an internal overflow your planning? With the plumbing exiting the bottom or an external with the plumbing exiting the back of your tank?

Awesome, thanks for the clarification. As mentioned above I would suggest 2 holes for a herbie style drain. If you do two holes and one of them you leave an open bulkhead. The other use a spigot 90° elbow in the other you will have a really nice herbie style drain.

Im from India, so i wont get this here, so im gonna use pvc fixture, i guess its called buckle head.. will 8mm bare the weight? Can it crack while tightening or in future maybe coz of some pressure? Im always scared when it comes to marine, as flow is high..
